your time with God this Lent

The season of Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and giving in the forty days leading up to Easter. The word "Lent" isn't in the Bible, but the idea of calling a sacred fast certainly is (Joel 2). The 40 day period reflects Jesus's 40 days of fasting and praying in the wilderness. The word "Lent" itself comes from the Old English word for lengthen, as the days lengthen into spring. Lent is the perfect time to lengthen your time with God.

At Jesup First UMC, we will be lengthening our time with God as we study stories of Amazing Grace.

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on February 22.  Worship at 7:00PM in the sanctuary.

Holy Week Lunches at noon April 3, 4, 5, 6 in the Jesup FUMC fellowship hall.

Easter is April 9 as we celebrate God's amazing grace in bringing Jesus back from the dead.
